2010 is yet again another green year.

The Greens have taken out three minor premierships in 2010 (Premier 1, Premier 2 and B grade) with all grades finishing withing the top 3 and making it through to the semi finals. Merewether Carlton has also won the Premier Division club championship, nearly 300 points clear of Maitland and Hamilton. The Greens also held the Hawthorn cup for the majority of 2010 only loosing the cup in the last couple of rounds.

Good luck to all Greens teams in this years final series and lets hope they can all make it through to the grand final.

Attached below is a note from the NHRU congratulating the club

Dennis /  Stephen

On behalf of the NHRU, I offer congratulations to Merewether Carlton RC on achieving Minor Premierships in three grades for 2010 -  another great effort.
And also on winning the Premier Division Club Championship.
Good luck in the Finals Series

Hoping to go one better this year the Merewether Carlton ladies team have advanced to the Hunter Women’s Grand Final this Sat 14 August at Passmore's Oval (kickoff 4.30). It has been a up and down year for the ladies team that has seen a number key players out due to Pregnancy (an unavoidable injury if your in a ladies team) that has meant other players have had step up and take on leadership roles. The finals series has been a roller coaster with a convincing loss in the major semi final and a strong performance against University to advance to the Grand Final.

This Saturday an entire year of preparation culminates in a rematch against Wanderers ladies in the Grand Final. It will be a tough contest Wanderers ladies have been unbeaten all season however Merewether ladies have shown that when the big games are needed they always step up using their teamwork as strength to never give up.

Newcomers to Merewether ladies this year include 16 year old Nomi Medlin playing at fullback, and also a recruit from Sydney University women’s Dr Monica Chew at outside centre. Merewether ladies dominate in scrums and set prices and hopefully on Saturday this will provide a strong enough platform to go forward and dominate the contest.

Despite a poor turnout, the 2010 greens bowls day went ahead as usual. A great day for bowling saw the likes of some Kings Cross detectives, a group of ninjas, some Swedish Backpackers, men in zen suits, the Masterchef judges and some other odd characters such as Osama Bin Laden and Eddy Mac as a shuttlecock?

The highlight of the day was not the bowling but rather Franki Reed dropping in at the Bar Beach half pipe his zen suit having never ridden a skateboard before. The evening kicked on at the Zoo. Good day for those who showed.
