Dennis Neader
Short fat bald club president (really not 6 foot!) who played 170 odd games for the Greens, and one for Mayfield East after a dummy spit early in 1980. Denzo scored maybe 3 tries in his whole illustrious career, and has won premierships in 1's, 2's, 3s & 4s.Career highlight was to play in the Greens 1980 1st Grade Premiership team, finishing 4th in the regular season, but smashing Wanderers in the GF
Denzo could not/still cannot catch, pass or swerve, but was a useful breakaway because of his skills getting down & dirty in rucks and mauls, pinching opposition ball at the tackle, and his one great love, chasing and smashing five eights and fullbacks on the odd occasion he could catch them.
He's lucky he played in the 70's & 80's, when there were no yellow cards, and breakaways were expected to make late tackles on kickers whenever the chance arose. As long as you left the players head intact you stayed on the field. And you were allowed to ruck players lying anywhere within 10 metres of the ball.
Ah, those WERE the good old days!
